Abstract

The success of tourism development that is environmentally friendly and adapted to local uniqueness and conditions can be measured through sustainable socio-cultural processes that involve local community identity, sustainable cycles of natural resources and the environment, and economic processes that can provide sustainable benefits. Tourism that pays attention to ecological aspects is the basis for sustainable ecotourism development. While conservation is an effort to preserve or save the environment to support ecotourism activities. This paper aims to explore the success of Indonesian ecotourism with an ecological and conservation approach in post covid-19. This study used a qualitative descriptive method to collect data using interviews, websites, and reliable online sources. Data and information were triangulated to improve researchers' comprehension. The results of the study indicate that if the ecotourism approach is properly implemented, the tourism industry has the potential to provide a beneficial positive impact on the environment through efforts to protect and conserve the environment where tourism can be a source for financing efforts to protect environmental resources and increase the economic value of resources or the environment, as well as empowerment in the social and cultural fields of the surrounding community. The development of ecotourism in an ecological and conservation approach is expected to be able to maintain and preserve natural resources, both flora and fauna, so that they remain sustainable.
