Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic University of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Erna Iftanti, S.S., M.Pd. Keywords: Critical Thinking, Bloom’s Taxonomy, Reading, Descriptive Text. Critical Thinking in reading is an important factor in conveying ideas to written language. Th objective of this study was to describe students’ critical thinking in reading descriptive text of MTsN 9 Blitar. The descriptive quantitative method was used in this study. The population of this study consisted of all the seventh grade of MTsN 9 Blitar. The sampling technique was done by purposive sampling. The sample of this study were 32 students of class VII C out of six classes (192 students). The instrument of the study was test because to measure students’ critical thinking in reading descriptive text. The data analysis technique used in this study is descriptive statistics with percentages. The results of the study showed that the mean of students’ critical thinking in reading descriptive text was 42.19. The results for each indicator showed that the analyzing was in the medium category (43.8%), the evaluating was in the very low category (9.4%), and the creating was in the high category (71.9%). Students’ critical thinking in reading descriptive text of VII C class of MTsN 9 Blitar as a whole was in the medium category (41.9%) and it indicated that the level of students’ critical thinking in reading descriptive text is not satisfactory and need to be improved.
