Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teaching Education. State Islamic University of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Erna Iftanti, S.S., M.Pd. Keywords: Public Speaking, English Oral Presentation, Students Difficulties. In learning a foreign language like English, speaking is one of the skills that need to be mastered by students to be able to have good communication with others. By mastering speaking skills, they can make conversations meaning, as well as receive, and process information directly to others. In learning English, the students face several kinds of speaking activities to practice and make them able to speak well, fluently, and clearly. People use language to express their feeling, ideas, opinions, and desires. The researcher will study and discuss students' ability to give oral presentations in English in class interaction, which will have an impact on students' speaking skills, in this thesis research. The aspects of learning speaking skills include a lack of vocabulary, poor pronunciation, a lack of confidence in speaking, and a fear of making mistakes while speaking. Furthermore, students are afraid of mispronouncing things, thus they lack the confidence to talk in English and communicate their thoughts and ideas. As a result, many students in the English education department at State Islamic University, Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. The formulation of the research problem is: 1) what are the EFL students’ difficulties in conducting oral presentations? 2) what are the factors that cause EFL students to have difficulty giving presentations in English? The purpose of the research: The purpose of this study was to find out the causes of students' difficulties in presenting English presentations for students in the 5th semester of the English Education Department. Research method: The design of this research was qualitative descriptive research form. The subject of this research was the active students from 5th-semester students of the English Department. The data on student difficulties in English oral presentation were collected by doing observation and interviews.The instrument of interviews is very helped the researcher to find the causes of students’ difficulties in English presentation. The result showed that the data on students difficulties in English oral presentation has many difficulties faced by fifth-semester students of the English Department during an oral presentation. Furthermore, from all the difficulties, there are 3 points that the researcher discusses; first, the problems under personal traits (anxiety, unconfident, and blankness), second followed by the obstaclebeneath contents/ideas (understanding the topic and organizing the ideas), and last is a problem under external factors (time management).
