Keywords: correlation, creative thinking ability, writing achievement, greeting card The writing ability of the eight grades of SMPN 1 Kalidawir can also correlate with their creative thinking ability. Thus, the students’ writing achievement can be influenced by several factors, one of which is the ability to think creatively. This study focused on knowing whether or not there is a correlation between creative thinking ability and writing achievement in greeting cards. The formulation of the problem in this study is “Is there any significant correlation between creative thinking ability and writing achievement in greeting cards of the eight grade students at SMPN 1 Kalidawir. This research is included in the type of correlation design using a quantitative approach. The population in this study were all students of class VIII SMPN 1 Kalidawir. The sampling technique in this study uses purposive sampling that is a class were active in learning English. The sample used was 36 students of class VIII-B. The data on students’ creative thinking abilities were obtained through students’ verbal creativity tests. Meanwhile, writing achievement was collected through writing tests on greeting cards. The correlation coefficient was calculated by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient in SPSS 23.0 program. In this study, the results of the Pearson Product Moment correlation coefficient analysis show that the correlation coefficient value is 0.843. From this result, it can be concluded that there is a positive correlation between creative thinking ability and writing achievement in greeting cards of the eight grade students at SMPN 1 Kalidawir. This means the better the students creative thinking ability, the better is their writing achievement especially in writing greeting cards. Based on correlation coefficient interpretation that the value of 0.843 categorized as “high correlation”. In short, it can be stated that there is a positive correlation between creative thinking ability and writing achievement in greeting cards of the eight grade students at SMPN 1 Kalidawir.
