Keyword: Self-esteem, Speaking Anxiety, Students' perceptions of self-esteem and anxiety Learning English as a foreign language for Indonesian students (EFL) has common problems faced by students who do not master English, where there are difficulties when it comes to English, especially students who feel low self-esteem and anxiety in aspects such as writing, reading, listening, and talk. Then to reduce low self-esteem and anxiety in speaking English, appropriate strategies are needed to motivate and increase students' self-confidence to speak English. The research problem formulations are: 1) How are students' perceptions of self-esteem and anxiety in speaking English? 2) What are the benefits of students' perceptions of self-esteem and students' anxiety in speaking? The aims of this research are: 1) To find out students' perceptions about self-esteem and anxiety in speaking English. 2) The benefit is that the teacher can find out about the needs and feelings of students to carry out learning in the classroom environment. And students understand how to overcome what should be when they feel low selfesteem and anxiety and speak English. The research design used is quantitative with a quantitative descriptive type. The subjects of this study were 40 students majoring in English education at Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung State Islamic University. The main sample of this study were four eighth semester students in the education department of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah State Islamic University Tulungagung, England. Research uses a questionnaire as a research instrument. Then this study analyzes the data by interpreting it, by looking at all the average scores from the highest to the lowest results and draws conclusions. The results showed that most of their English Tadris Department students had high self-esteem and did not experience anxiety in speaking English. This student perception can be used as a benchmark for a lecturer or teacher to implement appropriate learning strategies in the classroom environment. In addition, students can also find out how they lack in speaking English and know how to deal with low self-esteem and anxiety.
