Keywords: Teacher and Student Roles, Student Anxiety, and Reading Comprehension Reading comprehension is one of the abilities that must be possessed in order to master English language skills. Readers will find it difficult if they do not understand what they read, so there is anxiety about reading comprehension. It requires the role of teachers and students to improve reading comprehension and reduce students' anxiety about reading comprehension. Based on this background, the focus of this study is: (1) What are the roles of teachers in reducing students' anxiety about reading comprehension at MAN 3 Blitar? (2) What are the efforts of the teacher in reducing students' anxiety about reading comprehension at MAN 3 Blitar? (3) What are the roles of students in reducing their anxiety about reading comprehension at MAN 3 Blitar? (4) What are the efforts of students to reduce their anxiety about reading comprehension at MAN 3 Blitar? The approach used in this research is a descriptive qualitative approach that seeks to describe and find out data related to the roles of teachers and students in reducing student anxiety in reading comprehension at MAN 3 Blitar. The methods used for data collection are observation and in-depth interviews. Data analysis is carried out by organizing data into categories, describing it into units, synthesizing it with the inductive method into three steps, including the data reduction stage, presenting the data, drawing conclusions, and verifying. A descriptive-qualitative approach was used in this research, with a case study research type. The results of this study show that the roles of teacher and students, as well as the efforts of teacher and students, are actually carried out and implemented in the English language learning process to reduce student anxiety in reading comprehension at MAN 3 Blitar by adjusting conditions, learning needs, and student characteristics in the English language learning process. The teacher‟s roles as an educator, motivator, and facilitator include various efforts to reduce anxiety, namely improving reading skills, giving tasks, evaluating student learning, and increasing the time spent learning in language classes. The roles of students as individuals and learners in reducing anxiety in reading comprehension with various efforts, namely increasing vocabulary skills, improving pronunciation skills, and improving the ability to understand English grammar properly.
