Keywords: Effectiveness, Writing Skill, Serial Picture Media Writing is a communication activity that uses language according to the medium. Learning to write is an activity carried out through regular and organized thoughts into written form. Many people are good at making speeches or speaking, but many of them are unable to express their thoughts deeply in written form. This research based on students writing skills is low. The fact that the researcher knows that at the school the teacher only explains the recount text without providing an interesting way of learning for students. It is hoped that this research can make their writing skills better than before. The formulated of the research problem is “Is there any significance score of students’ writing recount text skills before and after using serialized image media?” and the aim of this research is to determine whether the use of serialized image media can be effective in ability to write recount texts for class VIII students at SMPN 26 Gresik. The research of this thesis use a quantitative approach and used preexperimental research, namely one group with pre-test and post-test. The population of students in class VIII is 224 students totaling seven classes, the research sample is class VIII D which consists of 32 students. The analysis technique used is IBM SPSS 25 Statistics. From the results of the research and discussion it could be concluded that: The average result obtained from the pre-test was 54.53, after the researcher gave the treatment using serialized image media the average score of students became 79.69. In this way, the use of serialized image media for writing recount text skills is effective for Grade VIII students of SMPN 26 Gresik. The calculation of the Ttes data shows that the P-value (Sig) is 0.000 and is less than 0.05 (0.000<0.0005). This shows that the null hypothesis (Ha) is rejected. In other words, the hypothesis states that the post-test average is smaller or the same as the pre-test average, while the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted; it means that the posttest average is higher than the pre-test average. It could be conclude, that using serialized image media is an effective technique for writing recount text.
