Keywords: Teacher, Strategy, Speaking In this study, the researchers focused on the teaching strategies that the teacher used to improve students' speaking abilities at MTs Nurul Hidayah Rejotangan Tulungagung. The formulation of the problem in this study are: 1) How are the teachers' strategies to improve students' skills in delivering ideas in students English speaking ability? 2) How are the teachers' strategies to improve fluency in students English speaking ability? and 3) How are the teachers’ strategies to improve grammar and pronunciation in students English speaking ability? The objectives of this research are: 1) To find out the teachers' strategies to improve delivering ideas of students English speaking ability 2) To find out the teachers' strategies to improve fluency of students English speaking ability, and 3) To find out the teachers' strategies to improve grammar and pronunciation of students English speaking ability. The researcher used a descriptive qualitative research design with a phenomenological approach. This approach focuses on exploring existing phenomena, that is phenomena that have occurred at MTs Nurul Hidayah Rejotangan. The source of the data in this research is the result of the interview answers of the teacher of MTs Nurul Hidayah Rejotangan. In this study, each teacher's answers were analyzed using other research theories related to strategies in teaching speaking. The results of this study indicate that the teacher's strategies vary in improving the delivery of ideas, fluency, as well as grammar and pronunciation in speaking in English. In the strategy to improve the ability to convey ideas the teacher focuses on making students feel free to use a variety of word choices, while in the fluency strategy the teacher uses guided-conversation, and in the strategy to improve grammar and vocabulary, the teacher uses the technique of separating material between grammar and vocabulary.
