Keywords: Textbook, Cultural Componen, William’s Theory, Talk Active Series This research is based on theory that language and culture are two inseparable things. The English learners are required to understand the culture to be communicatively competent in language. The focus of learning culture is not only on the origin of the culture itself but also the aspects of the culture. The students must learn both culture of the target language and their own culture using the target language they have learned. English textbooks need to be evaluated to make sure the appropriateness of the English textbook content. Then, the tendency that the textbooks chosen are not appropriate in terms of cultural contents exists since the reasons for choosing the textbook used may not consider the contents of the textbook. Research related to the component of culture inside the textbooks such as value, norm, institution, and artifact are very limited. The research aimed to ivestigate the western cultural content in EFL Textbooks – Talk Active Series 1,2, and 3 Published by Yudhistira from the cultural component taken from William’s (1983) theory of culture. The research questions in this research are: How are the western cultural component presented by the authors of EFL textbooks Talk Active for high school students Grade X, XI, and XII? How components of western culture are represented in the EFL textbooks Talk Active for high school students Grade X, XI, and XII?. The research has research objectives to explain the cultural information presented by the authors of EFL textbooks Talk Active for high school students Grade X, XI, and XII; to describe the component of culture representedin EFL textbooks Talk Active for high school students Grade X, XI, and XII. Dealing with the textbook analysis, this study was content analysis study to reveal the cultural content inside the textbooks. The data taken from three english tetboks from Yudhistira that is Talk Active 1, 2 and 3. The procedure of collecting data were document review and observation. The data were collected in the form of text, picture, photo and dialogue. The data analyzed based on adapted Mile’s and Hubarman’s concept which cover collecting, classifiying, coding, tabulating, interpreting, and drawing conclusion. The research finding showed that the western cultural information in Talk Active series were mostly represent Artifact, followed by Value, Norm and Institution. Cultural information appear in Talk Active 1 was 391 times in total. Artifact appeared 164 times (42%) ,value appear 105 times (27%), norm with 64 times (16%), and institution appear 59 times (15%).Talk Active 2 has 370 times cultural component inside. Artifact appear 168 times (45%), value appear 95 times (26%), norm with 52 times (14%) and institution 55 times (15%). Cultural component in Talk active 3 appears 275 times. Artifact appeared 123 times (45%), value appear 67 times (15%), norm with 45 times (17%) and institution are 55 times (15%). This research showed that Talk Active textbooks contain rich western cultural component. In addition, the result shows that Talk Active series contain rich western culltural component. Western cutural componen inside textbook represented integrated between one component and another. Finally, western cultural content in the textbook could give additional values because it made the reader easier in understanding the content of the book.
