Abstract

In English language skills, speaking is one of the most important skills in communication. Speaking is also related to information and knowledge. Public speaking is a development of speaking. Public speaking can provide information and knowledge to many people. This skill is very important and much needed. These public speaking skills will have an impact on career, education and others Because of the importance of public speaking skills, teachers must provide the right strategies to get maximum results. This research aims to find and describe (1) What are the teacher's strategies in teaching public speaking at the Daffodils Pare and (2) How are those strategies implemented in teaching public speaking at the Daffodils Pare. The research objectives in writing this thesis were to find out: (1) To find out what the teacher's strategies are in teaching public speaking at Daffodils Pare (2) To describe how teacher’s apply strategies in teaching public speaking at the Daffodils Pare The research design of this study is a descriptive design and qualitative methods. The source of this qualitative data is the public speaking teacher (DI) and five public speaking class students at The Daffodils Pare. This research data was obtained through in-depth interviews and observation. The analysis used was the Miles and Huberman method to analyze the data, including data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. To check the credibility of the data, researcher used data sources and methodological triangulation in this research. Using triangulation of data sources, researcher collect data from various sources to check the validity of the data. At the same time, researchers also use various methods to collect data.The results of this research reveal that teacher have several strategies in teaching public speaking. These strategies are theoretical explanation, practice and evaluation. The theoretical explanation consists of verbal, visual and vocal. After the teacher provides a theoretical explanation, students will practice. This practice consists of speech, news anchor, making content and storytelling. And finally, the teacher will evaluate at the end of each child's public speaking performance.
