Abstract

Keywords: Teacher Challenges, Kurikulum Merdeka Freedom to learn is one form of implementing the values that shape national character starting from improving the education system and learning methods. The challenge of a teacher is to make learning fun and students are not afraid and study diligently. The teacher must be able to make learning comfortable, enjoyable and interesting, which are the characteristics of the era of independent learning. A teacher is an educator who has an important role in the teaching process and must be able to apply a curriculum in schools. Like the English teacher at MTSN 6 Blitar who still has difficulty learning in this curriculum, therefore the researcher wants to see what challenges the teacher faces. English at MTSN 6 Blitar in implementing the independent curriculum and what are the solutions to these challenges The formulation of the problem in this research is (1) What are the challenges for English teachers in implementing the Independent Curriculum at MTsN 6 Blitar? (2) How do English teachers face challenges in implementing the Independent Curriculum? This research approach uses qualitative with a case study type. Data collection was obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. Stages of research data analysis through data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. Checking the validity of the data through the trust test, transferability test, dependency test, and confirmation test. Research results: 1) Teacher Challenges in Implementing Kurikulum Merdeka. There are 4 challenges for teachers in implementing Kurikulum Merdeka, namely: the first personal challenges is lack of access to learning. The second professional challenges is the lack of teacher readiness in preparing learning in the classroom. These three pedagogical challenges are where teachers still have difficulty in instilling the character of the Pancasila Student Profile in various kinds of students. Lastly there is a social challenge where there are no difficulties with this challenge because teachers establish good relationships between students, parents, staff and other teachers. as well as the surrounding community. 2) Solutions to teacher challenges in implementing Curriculum. The first personal challenge in overcoming this challenge is that teachers Kurikulum Merdeka be more active in participating in seminar events. The second challenge for professional efforts to face this challenge is to prepare learning materials carefully and not suddenly. The third pedagogical challenge of English teachers' efforts to face this challenge is by making learning contracts with students. Teachers approach students who are less active in teaching individually. The four social challenges where there are no difficulties in this challenge.
