(3) How do the students improve their pronunciation? (4) How do the students practice their speaking? The research method design used in this research is descriptive qualitative research which seeks to describe and find data related to student strategies in learning speaking English at the Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah State Islamic University, Tulungagung. The methods used for data collection were observation, documentation and in-depth interviews. Data analysis was carried out by synthesizing using an inductive method into three steps, namely data reduction, data presentation, drawing and outlining conclusions. Descriptive-qualitative research was used in this research with a case study research type. The research results show that students use different strategies when learning speaking strategies to improve understanding of vocabulary, grammar, and improve correct pronunciation. The strategy is discussion and scaffolding. Discussion strategies are a way for students to learn from each other, understand each other and really understand the strategies or pronunciation methods for speaking in English. The scaffolding strategy is a student intervention with other students to enable the development of learning skills.
