Dosen Pembimbing Dr. H. Muh. Basuni. M. Pd. Keyword: Stand-up comedy, Language style, Gabriel Iglesias, Function As we delve conversation it’s essential that language is an important tool to have conversation in human life, However if language is not being utilized properly, it will hinder the successful communication in human life. Therefore, language style is utilized to have more fluent in communication. stand-up comedy is choosen because it’s commonly relate to reader. Therefore, the reader will be able to learn language style with stand-up comedy as a approach. Stand up comedy is a performance that are relies on comedian to perform on stage solo. They provoke audience’s laughness by speaking joke.Therefore, stand-up comedy especially for students they can learn the language style more approachable with stand-up comedy. The researcher included 3 statement research problem in which, what type of language style were utilized in “Gabriel Iglesias:Stadium Fluffy”, what is the meaning of language style were utilized in “Gabriel Iglesias:Stadium Fluffy”, and lastly, what is the function of language style that is used in “Gabriel Iglesias:Stadium Fluffy”.This study aims to analyze the language style present in the stand-up comedy “ Gabriel Iglesias:Stadium Fluffy” and explore the meaning and function that will help students and teacher enchance their language style. The research utilized a qualitative approach, specifically using descriptive qualitative design. Data will be collected by observing and transcribing the dialogues. The analysis will be split into type of language, meaning and function. The findings reveal that Stand-up comedy “Gabriel Iglesias:Stadium Fluffy” has 4 of 5 language style, include formal style, consultative style, casual style and intimate style. The meaning of language style in this topic is to enchance the engagement between audience and performer. And lastly, all of language function can be found in this topic such as referential function, poetic function, metalinguistic function, conative function, emotive function and lastly, phatic function. In conclusion, this study suggest that Gabriel Iglesias Stadium Fluffy can be used to learn about language style in english lesson. By doing so, teacher can provide live stand-up comedy that will be enjoyable because it mainly focuses on cherishing the audience. The researcher hope that this approach will inspire educator to be more innovate using stand up comedy or other live media based.
