State Islamic University of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr.H. Nursamsu, S. Pd.I, M.Pd Keywords: Demotivation Factor, Student demotivation, English Learning As a medium of instruction, English is taught to students to help them develop their communication, reading, writing, and comprehension skills. It includes not just language skills, but also comprehension and context for practical application. Individual characteristics, environmental factors, instructional methods, societal circumstances, and motivation all contribute to Indonesian students' difficulty in learning English effectively. Motivation is defined as a state that encourages and sustains a person's learning activity. Students who are unmotivated, on the other hand, will feel sluggish and lack ambition in their academic pursuits. Similarly, certain pupils from Mts Darul Falah Bendiljati Kulon. There are various variables that contribute to their demotivation, both internal and external. The objective in this study is to determine what elements contribute to student demotivation when studying English and how to overcome them. This research uses a qualitative research design with interviews as the method for data collection. The research subjects consisted of 7 student participants who had below-average English scores, all of whom were second-year students at Mts Darul Falah Bendiljati Kulon. The research interviews were conducted at the school. The findings of this study indicate that there are several factors causing demotivation among students, namely internal and external factors. Internal factors show that the majority say that English is very difficult to understand and they feel bored during English lessons. Regarding external factors, there are several main causes of demotivation among students. among them are English, which is very difficult to learn, the teacher’s strategy when delivering the materials, lack of interaction between students and teachers, an unconducive classroom situation, peer influence, negative perception towards learning English, availability of other supporting books in the library, and learning English as an obligation. To increase students' desire and interest in learning English, several strategies are needed. To overcome difficulties with English, students must have the confidence that they can learn it. Self-confidence and willpower are key factors in overcoming demotivation from within the students themselves.
