Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of digital detox on smartphone usage satisfaction among Generation Z students of the Islamic Communication and Broadcasting Study Program, UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung, batch 2021. Employing an associative quantitative approach, this study involved 70 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using simple linear regression and t-test hypothesis testing. The findings indicate that the majority of respondents are female with an average age of 22 years, exhibiting very high smartphone usage duration and a strong preference for social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Nevertheless, the hypothesis test showed no significant influence between digital detox and smartphone usage satisfaction, as indicated by R=0.049; p>0.05. Based on the Uses and Gratifications theory, this finding suggests that Generation Z's satisfaction with smartphones is very high due to their full integration into daily life, thus efforts to limit usage do not substantially alter their level of satisfaction. Keywords: Digital Detox, Smartphone Usage Satisfaction, Generation Z, Uses and Gratifications.
