Keywords: jigsaw technique, speaking ability, procedure text Speaking is one of the important skills in learning English. However, many students feel anxious and have difficulty expressing themselves in English. Factors such as teaching methods, social influences, lack of interaction between students and teachers, and low students ' self-confidence are the main causes of this problem. Therefore, an effective strategy is needed to improve students’ speaking ability. In this research, the researcher used jigsaw technique to measure students’ speaking ability. This study was conducted to determine the significant difference in speaking ability before dan after using jigsaw technique. This study used a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design using a pre-test and post-test as the collection method. The research sample was 38 students from VIII-A. Students’ speaking ability was measured before and after applying jigsaw technique, and the data were analyzed using the Paired Sample T-test. The result showed that the average pre-test score was 71.68, while the average post-test score increased to 84.21. The Paired Sample T-Test produced a significance value of 0.001, smaller than the significance level of 0.05. Thus, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. This finding indicates that jigsaw technique had a significant effect on the students’ speaking ability in this learning. As a result, this study was effective on eighth-grade students’ speaking abilities at MTsN 7 Tulungagung.
