Keywords: EFL Students, Students’ Responses, Artificial Intelligence, ChatGPT, Grammarly, Quillbot, Writing Writing is a crucial academic skill for students, especially when writing a thesis. However, many students struggle with grammar, paraphrasing, developing ideas, and writing coherence. To overcome these difficulties, students had started using Artificial Intelligence (AI), such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, and Quillbot, which are accessible and widely used in academic contexts. This study investigated students’ responses on the use of Artificial Intelligence in writing, especially in thesis writing. This study used a descriptive quantitative method with a survey design. The population was 200 EFL students of the 8th-semester of English Education Department at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung in the academic year 2024/2025 The sample of this study was selected using a purposive sampling technique, and 100 students were recruited from class A until class E. The data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed by using descriptive statistics in SPSS 27.0. The findings showed that most students had a positive response of Artificial Intelligence. They agreed that ChatGPT helped generate ideas and structure content, Grammarly was effective for correcting grammatical errors and improving clarity, and Quillbot helped paraphrase and avoid plagiarism. However, a few students expressed concerns about over-reliance on Artificial Intelligence and limited understanding of Artificial Intelligence suggestions. Overall, the study concluded that Artificial Intelligence writing tools were beneficial for improving students’ writing skills, especially in thesis writing.
