English Education Department. Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Hj. Ida Isnawati, M.Pd. Key Words: Memrise, Vocabulary Mastery Covid causes education to be done online. This makes it difficult for students to learn English. In online learning, teachers are less able to interact with students, making it difficult for students to master vocabulary. Memrise can help students improve their vocabulary mastery by using online drill method. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using the Memrise application compared to conventional through the WhatsApp application. This study is a quasi-experimental study with all of seventh grade students of SMPN 2 Wonotirto as a population, and with a purposive sampling the sample was 20 students in the experimental group and 20 students in the control group. The research was conducted at SMPN 2 Wonotirto. The data collection method was test. The data instrument was vocabulary test with multiple choice and fillin-the blank. The data was analyzed by using Man Whitney U with the SPSS 26. The results showed that there was a mean difference of 3.9 scores and a significance value of 0.25. It can be concluded that the memrise application is effective in improving students' vocabulary mastery.
