Keywords: Speaking Skills, HelloTalk Application The ability to speak is crucial skills for learning English, as it enables students express their ideas and thoughts properly. Nevertheless, many students still struggle to speak English due to a limited opportunities to practice, confidence issues, and worry about making mistakes. Therefore, appropriate learning media are needed to support students in practicing speaking more actively. One of the digital applications that can be utilized in language learning is HelloTalk, which provides opportunities for interactive speaking practice. This study was carried out to examine whether the HelloTalk application significantly impact on students’ speaking skills. A quasi-experimental design was employed in this research. The participants of this study were eleventh-grade students of MAN 4 Kediri, two classes are chosen to form an experimental group and a control group. The data were collected through a speaking post-test and analysed independent samples t-test with SPSS version 26. Students in the experimental group showed better speaking performance than in the control group. The experimental group obtained a mean score of 10.346, while the control group achieved 8.420. Moreover, the significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of the independent samples t-test was 0.037, which was lower than 0.05. This result indicates that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. The results show that students speaking skills enhance when they used the HelloTalk app. As a result, HelloTalk can be utilized as a useful teaching tool to assist speaking activities for English language learners.
