Sarjana Thesis. English Education Department. Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung. Advisor: Nanik Sri Rahayu, M.Pd. Keywords: effectiveness, teaching vocabulary, miming game. Vocabulary is one of the language components that has to be taught to the students in learning a foreign language. This component is the basic study in learning a foreign language, especially for young learners. This is the first step that they have to learn in foreign language before they learn four skills such as Reading, Speaking, Writing, and Listening. Using games are effective ways of learning and practicing language. It means we must choose one technique that’s appropriate to use in teaching vocabulary. One of the technique that can be used in teaching vocabulary is miming game. The student demonstrate or act based on vocabulary that was learned then the other students guess vocabulary from the student’s act. Miming game is a fun game in learning English. The formulation of the research problems was: 1)” Is there any significant different scores of students in vocabulary before and after they are taught by using Miming Game? The purpose of this study was to : know there is a significant different scores of students in vocabulary before and after they are taught by using miming game. This study used quantitative approach with pre-experimental design. The population of this research were all students of fourth of SDN 01 Suwaluh. The sample was students of fourth grade students which consisted of 16 students. The research instrument in this study is test, which consists of pretest and posttest. The data collected through test was analyzed using T-test formula with IBM SPSS Statistic 22. The finding in the research showed that there is significant difference between the result before getting treatment is 55.700. While the student’s score after getting treatment is 79.562. ”. At the significance level of 0.05, the score of ttable is 2.131. By comparing the “t” that the researcher has got calculation tcount is 7.732 and the value of “t” on the ttable in significant level 0.05 is 2.131. It is known that tcount is bigger than ttable (7.131 > 2.131). If the tcount is bigger than ttable the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, it means that there is any significant difference on vocabulary mastery score before and after being taught by using Miming Game technique. The conclussion is Miming Game technique is effective in teaching vocabulary of the fourth grade students at SDN 01 Suwaluh Pakel.
