Abstract

ABSTRACT Thesis titled "Motif Ziarah Petilasan Sri Aji Jayabaya Studi Di Desa Menang Kecamatan Pagu Kabupaten Kediri" was written by Miftah Farid Hamka, NIM. Dr. 2832133021, mentors. Dr. Ngainun Naim, M. Ag and Dr. A. Rizqon Khamami, Lc. M.A. Keywords: Pilgrimage, Motive, Social Class, Symbolic Interaction, Culture, Petilasan Jayabaya. This research is motivated by the writer's anxiety with the number of Moslems who make a pilgrimage to the grave of Sri Aji Jayabaya. Sri Aji Jayabaya itself is a Javanese king who is Hindu. Apparently after reading some literature that discusses the pilgrimage of the tomb, it was found that the pilgrimage of the tomb is not only done to the tombs of Islamic figures, but also on the previous figures that are considered to have a major influence on society. One of the influential figures can be the previous Kings, national figures, or community leaders who are considered sacred. Of the many pilgrims who came to the tomb of Sri Aji Jayabaya, known as the king of Java with his predictions, there are many motives that background. Some come with economic motives, positions, until the matter of soul mate. This is the motive behind the pilgrims of Sri Aji Jayabaya tomb. In addition to the motives of the pilgrims who came to the grave of Sri Aji Jayabaya, the need to know the mythology believed among the pilgrims. The mythology about Sri Aji Jayabaya becomes the background that moves the community to perform pilgrimage activities. This research uses a qualitative research approach. In terms of place of conducting research, this research is a field research and data analysis to be used, is an analytical descriptive research. In this research, data collection is done by interview technique, and documentation. The results of this study are: first, pilgrimage activities conducted at the tomb of Sri Aji Jayabaya. Second, the motif of pilgrims who come to the tomb of Sri Aji Jayabaya. And Third, the development of grave mythology of Sri Aji Jayabaya in society.
