ABSTRACT Rofiqi, Anifatur. Register Students. 1723143012. The Effectiveness of Using Communicative Drilling on the Eleventh Grade Students’ Pronunciation Achievement At MAN 3 Tulungagung. Thesis. English Education Departement. Institute Islamic Collage (IAIN) of Tulungagung. Advisor: Nanik Sri Rahayu, M.Pd Keywords: effectiveness, communicative drilling, pronunciation achievement. As one of the English components, pronunciation is considered as a tool to improve the ability in oral communication. If the students have good pronunciation, they can improve their own language and self confidence in speaking. Pronunciation achievement is becoming very important, but in fact many students are still having difficulty in pronunciation and may cause misunderstanding in oral communication. Thus the teacher should provide the students with the suitable teaching strategy to help the students improve their pronunciation achievement. Based on explanation above, the writer intended to apply with Communicative Drilling to improve students’ pronunciation achievement At The Eleventh Grade of MAN 3 Tulungagung. The formulation of the research problem in this study is: Is there any significant difference scores of the students’ pronunciation achievement taught with and without using Communicative Drilling at the eleventh grade students of MAN 3 Tulungagung? The objective of this research is: To know whether there is any significant difference scores of the students’ pronunciation achievement taught with and without using Communicative Drilling at the eleventh grade students of MAN 3 Tulungagung. Method of this research: The researcher uses Quasi-Experimental research using quantitative approach with experimental class and control class. The population of this study was all the eleventh grade students at MAN 3 Tulungagung. The sample of experimental group was XI MIA 3 and the sample of control group was XI MIA 2. The result of this study showed that there is any significant difference scores of the students’ pronunciation achievement taught with and without using Communicative Drilling at the eleventh grade students of MAN 3 Tulungagung. It can be seen from the mean of student’s score of experimental group that taught being using Communicative Drilling Technique toward students’ pronunciation achievement was 74.31. While the mean of student’s score of control class that without using Communicative Drilling Technique was 57.76. The p-value (two-tailed) is 0.000 and the significance level is 0.05. Since 0.000 is smaller than significance level (α) 5%. The null hypothesis is rejected. In other word, the hypothesis saying that the mean of the experimental group is smaller than or equal to the mean of the control one is rejected. The conclusion is that Communicative Drilling is effective for improving the students’ pronunciation achievement.
