ABSTRACT Khafid, Muh. Zien. 3213103108. 2014. A Study of Students’ Involvement on English Extracurricular Activities at MTsN Aryojeding in Academic Year 2013/2014. Thesis. English Education Program. State Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN) Tulungagung. Advisor: Emmi Naja, M.Pd. Keywords: English extracurricular, Activities Extracurricular is the program that has useful to develop students’ interest. This program is carried out of the formal class. One of extracurricular is English extracurricular. English extracurricular can be an effort to link students’ skill through the activities that the teacher applies. Research problems in this research were: 1) What are the activities implemented in English extracurricular at MTsN Aryojeding? 2) How are the students’ motivations towards English Extracurricular Activities? 3) What are the students’ contributions in English Extracurricular at MTsN Aryojeding?. The objectives of this research were: 1) To know the activities are implemented in English extracurricular at MTsN Aryojeding, 2) To know the students’ motivations towards English Extracurricular Activities, 3) To know the students’ contributions in English extracurricular at MTsN Aryojeding. Research method applied in this research included; descriptive qualitative as its design, the data source of this study was the students of English extracurricular, the instrument that was used to collect the data was observation, interview and questionnaire, the data analysis was organizing the data, summarizing the data and interpreting the data, the result of the data collection was verified by using methodology triangulation. This research found various activities implemented in English extracurricular activities. The activities implemented were games, describing, question answer, role play, English camp and storytelling. Students’ motivation in English extracurricular came from intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic motivation was influenced by the students’ need of extracurricular to develop their interest. And the extrinsic motivation was influenced with the extracurricular handled by native speaker. Students’ contribution in extracurricular activities held significant role. The students contributed in the activities like joining in organization of extracurricular, involving the activities implemented, and giving the ideas or opinion to the teacher.
