There were four meetings for each class including pre-test and post-test. The researcher analyze the data used IBM SPSS 22.0 version for Windows. Based on the pre-test’s mean score of two classes, it indicates the samples were not equal in their ability. The normality test with N-Gain score showed the data was not distributed normally. So, the researcher used N-Gain score to determine the hypothesis using Mann-Whitney U-test. The result of this research showed the output of u-test has the significance value 0.1585. It was indicated that ρ-value was higher than significance level ɑ = 0.05 (0.1585>0.05). In consequence, the result was rejecting the alternative hypothesis (H1) and accepting the null hypothesis (H0). It means, there was no significant difference in the achievement of students in reading comprehension taught with and without the Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) for second graders at MTs Ma’arif NU Kota Blitar.
