Abstract

Moral values are essential values that determine individuals’ perception of morality and awareness of morals in social life that the readers can use it as a guide in life as they improve their character in some kinds of environment. In this study, the researcher investigates moral values where the novel of Looking for Alaska novel written by Jhon Green is chosen by the researcher as the subject of the study with some important considerations. The criteria of moral values used by the researcher is based on the theory proposed by Buzan, T. that consist of eleven major parts. In addition, the design of this research is qualitative research since the researcher tries to explore the moral values as reflected in Looking for Alaska novel descriptively. As the result, the researcher found that all of the elements of moral values provided in the contents of the novel those are bravery, humbleness, honesty, steadfastness, sympathetic to others, cooperativeness, thankfulness, kind-hearted, trustworthiness, sincerity, and love and affection. Meanwhile, the researcher also explained the relationship of the moral values in education.
