The Implementation of Duolingo Media for English Learning and Teaching at The First Grade Students of MTSN 09 Blitar at Academic Year 2021/2022. Sarjana Thesis. English education department. S.S., M.Pd Keywords: Duolingo, Media, English learning Teaching and learning English has a very important role in enabling Indonesian students to master English as their foreign language. Mastery of English skills has actually become a big problem for most Indonesian students. To master English, there will be 4 skills that must be trained. Like other languages in general, the 4 skills in English are Listening, speaking, reading, and writing. A person will not be able to communicate well in the environment if language skills are still limited. As stated by Lazar, (2015) Today, the use of information and communication technologies is of great importance in the role of educational technology in the teaching and learning process. The teacher must already have a suitable method for it, providing media, teaching techniques, and strategies so that students can use the target language communicatively. The concept of learning in this era is related to the rapid development of technology such as using duolingo application, because duolingo is one of media that can be used in learning and teaching activity. In this study, the researcher tried to analyze the implementation of using Duolingo application in English learning and teaching which was applied at the first grade of MTSN 09 Blitar. This study uses a descriptive-qualitative research design. Data obtained from observation, interviews and documentation. The main problem that needs investigations in this study is how the process to use duolingo application as media in learning and teaching English to improve student's english skill ability. What are the inhibiting and motivating factors in implementing Duolingo for English learning and teaching and How the strategies are used by teachers to solve the inhibiting factors in implementing Duolingo for English learning and teaching at MTSN 09 Blitar. In collect the data the researcher used subject selection to determine the respondents who would be used in the study. In this case the researcher select the subject of 1 English teacher who teaches seventh grade and class VIID a total of 32 students by selecting 5 students specifically as selected respondents. Respondents were selected based on their activeness during the learning process in class and recommendations from the teacher. The result of this study show that the students were more active, enthusiastic and interested in the learning activity. So, it can be concluded that the improving students english ability through Duolingo application were effective to improve the students' interest in following the learning teaching process.
