Keywords: Error, Pronounciation, Fricative sounds Among english component aspect, Pronounciation is one the most difficult aspects for students to master. The way people pronounce English words depens on how the words are heard in our ears. Therefore, it is important to listen to the right pronounciation of English. The teacher has to be a good model in pronouncing English sounds. This study was conducted with the aim of finding and analyzing the most common errors in fricative sounds at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatulloh Tulungagung. There are several reasons why this topic was chosen, firstly pronunciation is an important aspect of speaking skills, without good pronunciation, students cannot communicate well because one mistake in pronunciation can cause different meanings. thus causing misunderstandings. Moreover, fricative sounds do not exist in Indonesian, therefore Indonesian students are used to speaking errors, because they rarely use English in their lives. According to Corder (2000) proposes that not only language learners necessarily produce errors when communicating in a foreign language, but these errors, if studied systematically can provide insight into how languages are learnt. He also agrees that studying students‟ errors of usage has immediate practical application for language teachers. This study investigated there are 2 types (1) the kinds of error in pronouncing English fricatives sounds by the eigth semester students of` English Department in UIN Sayyid Ali rahmatulloh Tulungagung. (2) The sources of errors in pronouncing English fricatives sounds by the eight semester students of errors English Department in UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatulloh Tulungagung. The researcher used methode pronounciation Record the students asked them to pronounce what the researcher had provided, using a recorded voice note provided by the researcher, then the researcher analyzed the types of incorrect pronunciation. and interview the students were asked to read the sentences that had been provided to re-examine the errors in that type, finally the researcher gave five questions to the students to help the researcher analyze the data. Data processing in this research was divided into three stages; they were identifying errors, categorizing, and evaluating. Then, all data were analyzed by using descriptive quantitative method. The data of this research were information about the type os kinds and source by an English Department in UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah. The research findings indicated that kinds and sources of error. The kinds of error were divided into four kinds: omission of error, addition of error, misformation of error and misordering of error. The source: over-generalization, xi ignorance of rule restrictions, incomplete application of rules and false concept hypothesized. From the result of analysis, it revealed that the were 4 types of fricative prononciation errors this study they were (a) omission error (74 or 0,27%), (b) addition errors (22 or 0,08%), (c) misformation errors (80 or 0,29%), and (d) misordering error (94 or 0,34%). It indicated that most of the students made errorin misfordering 95(0,34%) with high percentage than misformation. In addition the source of errors in pronounciation fricative in this study is the researcher found that findings conclude that the source leads to a misordering caused by false concept hypothesized. They make mistakes about the differences in target language items that lead to wrong conceptualization, they read a lot of words that can't distinguish between "prize" and "price"
