Ikhwan, Moh. Mu’zul. Student Registered Number. 12203183093. 2022. Discrimination Experienced by Arthur as The Main Character of “Aquaman” Movie. Sarjana Thesis, English Education Department. Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. Advisor: Dr. Erna Iftanti, S.S., M.Pd. Keyword: Movie, Intrinsic Element, Discrimination, Aquaman Movie Movie is audio-visual communication media that aims to give a certain message to the audiences. This is can makes movie to be the communication media because it can convey meaning and feeling to the audiences. There is one aspect that can make the film's elements interesting to discuss, which includes: theme, plot, character, characterizations, setting, and point of view, and also moral values which we can call as intrinsic elements. The intrinsic element is one of the elements that can build literary works. Pradopo (2003:4) explains that the intrinsic elements of a literary work have a solid characteristics. Discrimination is the one of the message in the “Aquaman” movie. Discrimination is act of distinction. Discrimination has many levels can influence person’s psychological condition. Then, Aquaman movie used to analyze it. Because though movie it can be easier for us to know the points of discrimination, especially social values that have a big contribution towards the human life and have a guide for us to have a better view on how to live in social life. The researcher hopes that the readers can understand the concept of discrimination in the education or social environments. The aims of this study are: (1) to know the form of discrimination experienced by Arthur as main character at AQUAMAN movie, (2) to know the reason Arthur being discriminated by other character, (3) to know the implications of the discrimination in Arthur’s psychological condition. This study is library study with descriptive qualitative approach. The data obtained from watching the “Aquaman” movie and analyze the scenes and the dialogues that containing the form of discrimination by Arthur, the reason Arthur being discriminated by other character, and the implication of discrimination in Arthur’s psychological condition. While this data collected using documentation method. Documentation method is collecting the data from internet, video, transcription and some books or copy. The result showed that there are three forms of discrimination namely Physical Abuse, Verbal Expression and Exclusion. Then, three reasons that Arthur being discriminated by other character there are Arthur is considered as a freak person, Arthur is not considered as an Atlantean, and Arthur is considered as the reason Queen Atlanna has been killed. The next is two implications of discrimination to Arthur’s psychological condition as the mentioned Arthur feels depressed that showed Arthur blaming himself from what happened to Queen Atlanna is because he was born and declined psychological well-being that showed by insecurity feels of Arthur.
