Abstract

This research departs from the phenomenon that occurs in Islamic boarding schools which are still not strong enough to develop a culture of literacy in creating a superior generation through educational leadership. The purpose of this study was to find out the forms of literacy culture for students, literacy facilitation for students and the impact of literacy culture for students at the Sirojut Tholibin Islamic boarding school, Plosokandang. The methods used in this service activity are the lecture method, the question and answer method, and the discussion method. The cottage-based literacy movement is carried out in three stages, namely the habituation stage, the development stage, and the learning stage. Forms of activities to develop literacy movements based on Islamic boarding schools, namely (1) Tahfidzul Qur'an Program, (2) study of the yellow book, (3) muhadah activities, and (4) journalistic activities. Islamic boarding school-based literacy is a comprehensive effort that involves all boarding school residents (kyau, ustad, ustadzah, administrators, students, parents/guardians of students) and the community. The implementation of the literacy movement is realized through three stages, namely habituation, development, and learning. the three stages are carried out in stages so that the process can run as it should. The literacy movement offered for the cottage environment also adjusts to the needs and goals to be achieved. Santri studying at Sirojut Tholibin Islamic boarding school are taught literacy with a unique system so they can prepare themselves for future social life, such as khitobah, yellow book study, syawir, muhafadzoh, and mutola'ah. Community life here is important to underline, because students will become the foundation and become development figures who are always useful and used in social life. This can be reflected when a santri leads a religious activity, hosts an event, and is not infrequently associated with other matters. as if this answers the doubts that exist in the community, that a santri who attends a boarding school can do everything. The various activities that can be implemented above are expected to make the students have the ability to filter information so that they are able to become human beings who are knowledgeable and have good morals.
