English Education Deparment. Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic University (UIN) of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Erna Iftanti, S. S., M. Pd. Keyword: Speech Act, Illocutionary Act Communication is a very important aspect in our daily life as it is how people to interact with each other in the society. If people want to communicate with each other, there is one thing that they should have. It is a language, language is a tool of communication between one people with another. By communicating, people can convey information or express something to the hearer, and the hearer can get the information. In communication, a person has a certain purpose. That purpose is carried through the utterance. In other words, every utterance spoken by the speaker contains meaning or purpose. The research problem of this research are: 1) "What types of illocutionary acts are found in the Captain America Movie: The First Avengers?" 2) What is the function of illocutionary acts are found in Captain America Movie, the first Avangers?” The objective of this research is to find out types of illocutionary acts and its function performed by the main character in the Captain America Movie: The First Avengers.The study was intended to find out the descriptive data. Research method used in this study is library research, and the design used is a descriptive qualitative research design. The technique of collecting data are (1) Watching the movie several times (2) Understanding the movie, especially the utterances uttered by the main character (3) Observing and reading the scripted dialogue (4) Watching the movie while reading the script and taking some notes to construct the analysis based on the data. (5)The researcher determined the art of dialogue that presented types of illocutionary acts (assertive, directive, commissive, expressive, and declarative) (6) Identifying it into categories of illocutionary acts based on Searle's categories (7) Data analysis and interpretation. The researcher used content analysis, in which the researcher tries to analyze data and identifies every utterance using illocutionary acts in the Captain America Movie: The First Avengers. The result of this research showed that the main character, Steve Rogers, use five types of illocutionary acts and its functions based on Searle’s theory, there are Representative Acts (informing, reporting, stating). Directive Acts (requesting, commanding, forbidding). Commissive Acts (undertaking, refusal, intending, promising). Expressive acts (thanking, aplogogizing, deploring, dissappointing). Keyword: Speech Act, Illocutionary Act Komunikasi adalah aspek yang sangat penting dalam kehidupan kita sehari-hari karena merupakan cara orang berinteraksi satu sama lain dalam masyarakat. Jika orang ingin berkomunikasi satu sama lain, ada satu hal yang harus mereka miliki. Itu adalah bahasa, bahasa adalah alat komunikasi antara satu orang dengan orang lain. Dengan berkomunikasi, orang dapat menyampaikan informasi atau mengungkapkan sesuatu kepada pendengar, dan pendengar dapat memperoleh informasi tersebut. Dalam komunikasi, seseorang memiliki tujuan tertentu. Tujuan tersebut diwujudkan melalui tuturan. Dengan kata lain, setiap ujaran yang diucapkan oleh penutur mengandung makna atau tujuan. Rumusan masalah dari penelitian ini adalah 1) “Jenis tindak ilokusi apa saja yang terdapat dalam film Captain America: The First Avengers?” 2. Apa fungsi tindak ilokusi yang terdapat dalam film Captain America: The First Avangers?” Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis tindak ilokusi dan fungsinya yang dilakukan oleh tokoh utama dalam film Captain America: The First Avengers. Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk mengetahui data deskriptif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kepustakaan, dan desain yang digunakan adalah desain penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah (1) Menonton film beberapa kali (2) Memahami film, terutama ucapan-ucapan yang diucapkan oleh tokoh utama (3) Mengamati dan membaca naskah dialog (4) Menonton film sambil membaca naskah dan mengambil beberapa catatan untuk membangun analisis berdasarkan data. (5) Peneliti menentukan seni berdialog yang menghadirkan jenis-jenis tindak ilokusi (assertif, direktif, komisif, ekspresif, dan deklaratif) (6) Mengidentifikasinya ke dalam kategori tindak ilokusi berdasarkan kategori Searle (7) Analisis dan interpretasi data. Peneliti menggunakan analisis isi, dimana peneliti mencoba menganalisis data dan mengidentifikasi setiap ucapan dengan menggunakan tindak ilokusi dalam Film Captain America: The First Avengers. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tokoh utama, Steve Rogers, menggunakan lima jenis tindak ilokusi berdasarkan teori Searle, yaitu Representative Acts (menginformasikan, melaporkan, menyebutkan). Directive Acts (meminta, menyuruh, melarang). Commissive Acts (berusaha, menolak, berniat, berjanji). Expressive acts (berterima kasih, memohon maaf, deploring, kecewa). And Declarative Acts (mendeklarasikan).
