Pd.Keywords: Translation Method. Song Lyric, Avenged SevenfoldMusic is a form of art that is popular with many people. In Englishsong lyrics, it's not uncommon for us to find words that are difficult tounderstand, especially in metal music where harsh words are used.Therefore, the translator must be good at choosing the appropriatemeaning and translation method in translating a sentence so that itscontents can be conveyed correctly. Avenged Sevenfold is an Americanband with the heavy metal genre which is much-loved among youngpeople. The band is originally from Huntington Beach, California, formedin 1999.The purpose of this research is to find out what translation methodsare used in interpreting the song lyrics of Avenged Sevenfold. After that,the researcher looked for which translation method was most dominantlyused. In this study, researcher used the theory of translation from PeterNewmark to analyze.This study used descriptive qualitative method. In this study,researchers used theoretical triangulation because researchers used theoriesfrom experts as a reference for analyzing or collecting data.After analyzing the song lyrics of Avenged Sevenfold, the resultsof this study found that the translation methods used are word for wordtranslation, literal translation, free translation, faithful translation, semantictranslation, andadaptation translation. While the most dominanttranslation is word for word translation and literal translation.
