KeyWords: Code Switching, Thai English Teacher Code switching is the switch the code between one language to another language. Thai English Teacher switchs the language from native language as direction and English as the subject of the lesson. Thai English Teacher switched the language because many Thai students cannot understand the English. They have difficulties in English. That case made the teacher’s challenge to teach. Teacher needs strategy to make students interesting about English in English learning process. Code switching was the way to transform English well. Because of the point of view above, the researcher decided to conduct the research about the use of code switching by Thai English Teacher at Muslim Wittaya Phuket School. The research problems proposed by the researcher are: (1) what are the types of code switching used by Thai English Teacher at Muslm Wittaya Phuket School. (2) What are the reasons of Thai English Teacher switched the code in classroom? Based on that problems, the objectives the researcher are to find out the types of code switching used by Thai English Teacher and the reason why teacher switched the language at Muslim Wittaya Phuket School. This study was a descriptive qualitative as the research design. The subject of the study comprised Thai English Teachers at Muslim Wittaya Phuket School. The techniques of data collecting method were observation, recorder, and Thai English teachers’ interview. The observation was used by researcher to conduct the data. In order to avoiding lost the data, researcher recorded the data while observation happened. After, interview used to find the further about the data. From the data provided, the researcher found out three types of code switching and three reasons Thai English Teacher switched the language. The three types were intra-sentential code switching, inter-sentential code switching, and extra-sentential code switching. The three reasons were because of Rhetoric reason, different status and formalities, and the lack of vocabulary. Based on the result, the researcher suggests several things. For the students and teachers, switch the language is alternative way to understand English. Last, for future researchers, it can be a reference for future research. ABSTRAK Nur Khairiah, Siti. Kata Kunnci: Alih Kode, Guru Bahasa Inggris Thailand Alih Kode adalah peralihan kode (bahasa) dari satu bahasa ke dalam bahasa lain. Guru bahasa Inggris di Thailand mengalihkan dari bahasa penutur sebagai petunjuk dan bahasa Inggris sebagai materi pelajaran. Guru Bahasa Inggris Thailand mengalihkan bahasa karena banyak siswa Thailand yang tidak bisa memahami bahasa Inggris. Itulah yang menjadikan tantangan bagi guru untuk mengajar dengan kreatif. Guru membutuhkan strategi untuk membuat siswa lebih tertarik terhadap Bahasa Inggris dalam proses pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. ALih Kode, adalah langkah untuk mengirimkan informasi Bahasa Inggris dengan baik. Berdasarkan pandangan diatas, peneliti memutuskan untuk mengadakan penelitian tentang penggunaan alih kode oleh guru Bahasa Inggris Thailan di Sekolah Muslim Wittaya Phuket. Rumusan masalah yang muncul adalah: (1) Tipe-tipe alih kode apa sajakah yang digunakan oleh Guru Bahasa Inggris Thailand?. (2) Apa sajakah penyebab dari Guru Bahasa Inggris Thailand melakukan alih kode dalam ruang kelas? Dari rumusan masalah tersebut, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan tipe-tipe alih kode yang digunakan oleh guru Bahasa Inggris Thailand dan penyebab mengapa Guru melakukan alih kode di Sekolah Muslim Wittaya Phuket. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif analisis sebagai model penelitian. Subjek penelitian ini adalah guru-guru Bahasa Inggris di Sekolah Muslim WIttaya Phuket, Thailand. Metode dalam pengambilan data adalah observasi, perekaman video, dan interview. Observasi dilakukan peneliti untuk mendapatkan data. Untuk menghindari kemungkinan kehilangan data, peneliti merekam data ketika observasi dilakukan. Selanjutnya interview digunakan untuk menemukan data secara mendetail. Dari data yang didapatkan, peneliti menemukan 3 tipe alih kode yang terjadi dan tiga penyebab guru melakukan alih kode. Tiga tipe tersebut adalah alih kode intra-sensensial, alih kode inter-sensensial, dan alih kode ekstra-sensensial. Sedangkan penyebabnya adalah alas an rektorik, perbedaanstatus dan formalitas, dan kurangnya kosakata. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, peneliti menyarankan beberapa hal. Untuk siswa dan guru, peralihan bahasa atau alih kode adalah langkah alternative untuk dapat memahami bahasa Inggris. Dan yang terakhir, penelitian ini semoga dapat digunakan sebagai referensi tambahan dalam penelitian selanjutnya.
