Keywords: Reading Comprehension, YouTube Videos, Descriptive Text Reading is one of the most important skills in English learning. Having a good reading ability can facilitate students in understanding learning materials. In order for students to understand the material, then the teachers must have a supportive and interesting media in learning process. YouTube video is one of the media that can attract students in learning English. Generally junior high school students use YouTube videos as an entertainment media. Therefore, the researcher is interested in conducting related research "The Effectiveness of YouTube Videos on Students' Reading Comprehension of Descriptive Text the Eight Grade at SMPN 3 Kalidawir". Based on the description above the formulation of the problem in this study was "is there any significant difference between students' reading comprehension of descriptive text the eight grade at SMPN 3 Kalidawir before and after taught by using YouTube Videos?”. The objective of this study is to find out whether there is any significant difference between students' reading comprehension of descriptive text before and after being taught by using YouTube videos to eight grade students at SMPN 3 Kalidawir. This study used a pre-experimental research design using one group pretest-posttest with a quantitative approach. The population of this study were all eight grade students of SMPN 3 Kalidawir which consist of 4 classes. The sample of this research VIII-A class which consists of 30 students. The instrument used is a multiple-choice test. The researcher conducted this research in 5 meetings, where the first meeting was started with a pretest, then continued with 3 treatment meetings and a post-test on the last meeting. Researcher analyzed the data using the Paired Sample T-test with IBM SPSS version 26.0. The results of this research showed that YouTube videos is effective to improve students' reading comprehension in eight grade students at SMPN 3 Kalidawir. It can be seen from the students' mean score on the pre-test was 58.33, while the students' mean score on the post-test was 83.50. The mean score of post-test it was higher than the mean of pre-test. It means that there was increasing score on the students’ reading comprehension. From statistical calculation showed that the significant value is 0,000 which was smaller than the significant level (0.000<0.05). It means that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It can be concluded that there is any significant difference in the scores of students who have reading comprehension before and after being taught using YouTube videos. The use of YouTube videos is effective on students' reading comprehension of descriptive text the eight grade at SMPN 3 Kalidawir. In other words the use of YouTube videos can be alternative media to teach reading comprehension.
