Abstract

Kata Kunci : Buruh Pabrik, Petani, Rasionalitas ABSTRACT Dongko Village in Trenggalek Regency was originally known as a farming area, but with the establishment of the plywood factory, many farmers turned to factory workers. This is caused by difficulties in obtaining subsidized fertilizer, rising prices of non-subsidized fertilizer, and uncertainty in income from agricultural products. Although the option of becoming a factoryworker offers a steady income, this has had a significant impact on the agricultural sector of Dongko Village because farmers have begun to neglect their land. This research aims toreveal why the people of Dongko Village choose to become factory workers ratherthan farmers and how they change professions. Through qualitative research methods with a socialdemographic approach, factors influencing farmers' decisions have been identified, includinghereditary skills and agricultural problems such as high fertilizer prices. Despite disapproval from some in society, the move was understood to be a consequence of industrial development and economic change. Overall, these movements reflect socio-economic dynamics, withadaptation to change for the sake of family well-being. Keywords: Factory Workers, Farmers, Rationality
