Abstract

Discussing religion as a social concept without coming into Karl Marx’s idea is lack of orientation. Marx, with two tendencies by which the experts look at him, was the pioneer of positivist-materialist idea in sociology of religion. Economics, politics, history, and philosophy all are having credit to Marx because of its straight, fiercing and influential idea especially in Europe. Religion can get the challenge, in one side, and also the benefits and advantage in other one, from his critical review toward religious practice in his era. Using descriptive-analytical perspective, this paper tries to show contribution Marx gave in this field and finally critisize some points in which Marx is seen mislead
