Abstract

In the learning process, media is needed to channel information and to achieve learning objectives in the classroom, therefore the selection and use of media in learning must be complex, effective and efficient so that students can clearly understand the lessons in class. One of the learning media applied is the Android-based Augmented Reality application on This is My World material in English subjects. This research aims to 1) Knowing how to develop an English learning model for junior high school grade 7 SMPN 2 Panggul based on Augmented Reality that can help and facilitate students in learning English; 2) Knowing the description of learning media design using Augmented Reality technology in English subjects; 3) Knowing the students' perceptions of the use of Augmented Reality technology as a learning medium. The research formulation and questions in this study are: 1) How to develop an English learning model for junior high school grade 7 SMPN 2 Panggul based on Augmented Reality that can help and facilitate students in learning English? 2) How to describe the design of learning media using Augmented Reality technology in English subjects? 3) How are students' perceptions of the use of Augmented Reality technology as a learning medium? This research is a type of research and development (R&D) using the ADDIE development model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research instruments used are interviews to teachers and needs analysis for students, material and media validation sheets to determine product validity, and teacher and student response questionnaires to determine teacher and student responses to products that have been developed. The results of this study are 1) developing Augmented Reality learning media using the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). 2) Augmented Reality media design for English subjects in the form of 2 applications that contain real illustrations of objects and buildings around students in accordance with the material This is My World. 3) the results of student perceptions of Augmented Reality applications are in good criteria with a percentage of 75.2%. Thus, it can be concluded that the Augmented Reality application media developed is feasible and can be used for learning activities by students.
