Advisor: Puspita Mayaratri, M.Pd Keywords: effectiveness, whispering game, speaking skills This thesis deeply investigates the effectiveness of whispering exercises as innovative teaching methods to improve students’ speaking skills at SMAN 2 Trenggalek. Despite receiving formal English instruction for three years, many students still face challenges in achieving language fluency. These difficulties are often caused by various factors, including poor pronunciation, lack of self-confidence, and inadequate critical thinking skills, which hinder their communication ability. This study introduces engaging and interactive activities in the English Club to address these pressing issues. These activities are designed to improve language skills and foster cultural awareness among students, thereby enriching their overall learning experience. A pre-test was conducted before the whispering game technique was implemented to assess students' initial speaking ability. After that, students participated in these interactive activities, which were carefully designed to facilitate language learning in a fun and engaging way. The results showed a significant improvement in students' speaking skills, as evidenced by the mean post-test score, which increased dramatically from 63.22 to 87.33. This substantial increase indicates that the applied method effectively improves students' ability to speak English fluently. In addition, statistical analysis was conducted to validate the findings, leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis. The alternative hypothesis was accepted, which states a significant difference in speaking ability between students who participated in the activity and those who did not. This study highlights the potential of interactive learning techniques, such as whispering games, in language education, suggesting that such methods can significantly improve students' speaking skills and overall language proficiency.
