Abstract

The thesis entitled “Self-concept Used By Autonomous English Learners for Improving Speaking Skill Adapted from Marina Mogilko on Linguamarina Youtube Channel” was conducted by Putri Wahyuni Ayu Siwi. NIM 126203212145. Thesis English Education Department. Bachelor Program. 2025. State Islamic University of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. H. Nursamsu, S.Pd.I., M.Pd. Keywords: Self-concept, Autonomous English Learners, Speaking Skill The phenomenon of fear in speaking becomes a unique challenge for Autonomous English learners, rooted in a lack of confidence in the activity.This is what led the researcher to find out how to anticipate fear when speaking.One of the topics discussed in this research is the use of the self-concept for Autonomous English Learners, commonly known as self-concept. This research is focus to explore the role of self-concept as a state of mind used by the autonomous English learners in improving speaking skills in Marina Mogilko’ Linguamarina Youtube channel. In this research, using qualitative research design, using approach library research, types of content analysis. The data taken from video transcript from Marina’s video: “How I Started Speaking English Without Fear (As Non-native Speaker)”. In this research has research problems, there are: 1) How does the self-concept helps the autonomous English learners to improve speaking skills, 2) What are the challenges faced by the Autonomous English Learners in Improving Speaking Skills. The purpose in this research is, 1) To explore how the self-concept helps the autonomous English learners for improving speaking skills, 2) To know the challenges faced by the Autonomous English Learners in Improving Speaking Skill. The findings show that self- concept helps the autonomous English learners, it was showed from the result that the autonomous English learners who is non-native speakers speaking English with no fear. From this data shows that Marina Mogilko as an autonomous English learners, not only improve’s autonomous English learners speaking skill but also build self-concept, growth mindset, enthusiasm in speaking. The findings are useful for English learners in improving speaking English confidently through technological developments by utilizing social media Youtube.
