Abstract

The thesis with the title "The Correlation Between the Frequency of Watching Aaron O’Brien Instagram Content and English Vocabulary Ability Among English Education Department Student at UIN SATU Tulungagung" was written by Mochammad Zainul Huda, NIM. 126203213226, English Education Department Study Program, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, with supervisor Ringgi Candraning Prawerti, S.Pd.I, M.Pd. Keywords: correlation, frequency, Instagram content, English vocabulary ability, Aaron O’Brien English has become an essential global language in various fields, including education, technology, and international communication. In the digital era, the rapid growth of social media has transformed the way people learn English, especially among university students. Instagram, as one of the most popular platforms, provides abundant opportunities for learners to access educational content in an engaging and interactive way. Among many English content creators, Aaron O’Brien stands out for his short, contextual, and informative videos that focus on vocabulary learning. This study aims to investigate the correlation between the frequency of watching Aaron O’Brien’s Instagram content and the English vocabulary ability of students in the English Education Department at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Using a quantitative correlational design, the research seeks to determine whether students who frequently engage with Aaron O’Brien’s educational videos demonstrate higher levels of vocabulary mastery. Data will be collected through questionnaires measuring students’ frequency of exposure to Aaron O’Brien’s content and vocabulary tests assessing their English lexical proficiency. The findings of this study are expected to provide insights into the effectiveness of social media, particularly Instagram, as a learning tool for vocabulary acquisition. Furthermore, this research will contribute to the development of more engaging English teaching methods and encourage students to utilize social media as an alternative platform for independent language learning.
