Abstract

The thesis entitled " Integrating Stoic Philosophy in English Language Teaching of The First Grade at MTsN 8 Blitar: Enhancing The Students' Resilience and Emotional Balance" was written by Samasta Gito Baskara, NIM. 126203213216, English Education Department Study Program, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, with supervisor Dr. Elva Yohana, S.Hum, M.Pd. Keywords: Stoicism; English Language Teaching; emotional resilience; emotional balance; qualitative case study. This study examines the integration of Stoic philosophy into English Language Teaching (ELT) and its influence on students’ emotional resilience and emotional balance in the seventh grade at MTsN 8 Blitar. Using a qualitative case study design, the research involved one English teacher functioning as the teacher–researcher and two intact classes totaling seventy students, with six purposively selected focal students for deeper analysis. Core Stoic principles—especially the dichotomy of control, calm responding, and reflective self-examination—were embedded across eight speaking-oriented lessons through simplified Stoic prompts, calmness strategies, effort-focused feedback, and structured reflective journaling adapted to the Islamic school context.
