Abstract
ABSTRACT Thesis with the title “Analysis of Difficulties in Learning Biology of Class VIIth Students at MTs Al-Muslihuun Tlogo Blitar” Written by Ula Uyun Fuaza,Student Registered Number (NIM) 17208153042, Tadris Biology, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FTIK), State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung, Advisor by Zun Azizul Hakim, M.Psi Keywords: Learning Difficulties, Biology, Student The successful of learning can be seen if between student and teacher both can make a mutual relationship. But in fact, there is some student who can't make it. And one of subjects that requires harder understanding is Biology, because it contains some theory and needs more practice to get a good understanding. The difference of student's background and characteristic certainly affect to outcome of student learning. There are students who can participate in learning activities smoothly, quickly, responsibly, successfully and without experiencing some difficulties. On the other hand, also, there are students who experience various difficulties in learning. The focus of this research is: (1) What are the learning difficulties for VIIth grade students at MTs Al-Muslihuun Tlogo Blitar in learning Biology?, (2) What are the learning difficulties factors for VIIth grade students at MTs Al-Muslihuun Tlogo Blitar in learning Biology?, (3) How are the teacher's efforts to overcome the learning difficulties for Grade VIIth students at MTs Al-Muslihuun Tlogo Blitar in learning Biology?. The purpose of this research is to explain relation of learning difficulties of Biology subject, to describe the cause factors of the learning difficulties of Biology subject, and to describe what kind to effort that can be done to resolve the learning difficulties of Biology subject on VIIth grade students MTs Al-Muslihuun Tlogo Blitar. The research approach is qualitative research and data collection techniques used is observation, structured interviews, and documentation. While the data analysis used is Creswell's theory which includes making and organizing collected data, reading and researching arranged data, description of researchers' experience in the field, horizonalization, units of meaning, textural descriptions, structural descriptions and meaning or essence of subject experience. This study also checks the validity of data by using perseverance or regularity of observation, triangulation, and peer thinking. The results of this study is: (1) Types of learning difficulties in the form of difficulties in memorizing cell components, difficulty in knowing the types of tissues and organs in plants and animals, difficulty understanding and defining parts parts of organs and organ systems, also the difficulty of describing and understanding images of cell organelles. (2) Factors that cause learning difficulties are those consisting of positive factors, affective factors, psychomotor factors, family factors, school factors, and nutritional factors. (3) The efforts made by educators to overcome the difficulties of learning biology are educators using various approaches depending on the material to be taught, giving special attention to students who have difficulty learning, repeating material that has not been understood by students, and conducting remedial programs for students who have learning difficulties or who have not reached the minimum completeness criteria (KKM).
