The Effectiveness Of English Grammar Application In Teaching Past Tense At The First Grader Of Islamic Senior High School Kota Blitar. Thesis. English Education Department. Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic Institute of Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. H. Nursamsu, M.Pd. Keyword: Effectiveness, Teaching Simple Past Tense, English Grammar Application This research is about the effectiveness of using English Grammar Application in teaching grammar especially Simple Past Tense of first grader in Islamic Senior High School Kota Blitar. The study tried to answer this problem: “Is there any significance difference in English Grammar Achievement between students who are taught by using English Grammar Application and those who are not?”. The objective of the research is to find out the significance difference in English Grammar Achievement between students who are taught by using English Grammar Application and those who are not This research used quasi experimental research design which have two group. The first group as control group and the other one as experimental group. The population of this research was students of the first-grade students in Islamic Senior High School Kota Blitar in academic year 2018/2019. The sampling technique use purposive sampling technique from the total number of population 400 students. The population has divided into 8 classes then the researcher chooses two classes of them to be the experimental group and control group. The data were collected through test. After the treatment the students score are improved highly. It can be seen from the result of computation that show the P-value is smaller than α (0,005). With P value was 0,000. So, the null hypothesis was rejected. It means that English Grammar Application is effective to teach simple past tense on the first grader of Islamic Senior High School Kota Blitar in academic year of 2018/2019. Thus, it can be stated that these application is considered effective to teach grammar especially Simple Past Tense for students in Senior High School. The students would be more enthusiasm in learning grammar. The students also feel flexible when they used the application as their media because it just very simple. They should not use many papers to do the test. By using this application, the student also try to be honest in their exam also in showing their score to the teacher.
