English Education Program State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Susanto, SS, M. Pd. Keywords: The Implementation of UKBM, Semester Credit System, 21 st Century Learning Nowadays, 21 st century learning is the newest education system. Indonesia which is using curriculum 2013, also already implemented 21 st century learning in its education system with an expectation that Indonesian students can confront their era that is 21 st century era as good as possible. Besides that, Semester Credit System (SKS) is an education system that was applied in curriculum 2013. One implementation of SKS is Independent Learning Activity Unit (UKBM). In confronting learning with curriculum 2013 and this 21 st century learning, one of the most important subjects that should be mastered by the students is English. English is needed to be mastered because English is used as international language. By this thing, good implementation of UKBM is needed in teaching and giving the material for students to be master in English. Especially, for students who are included in the school that applies Semester Credit System (SKS) which in learning process, students should have more effort in finishing the credits. For giving English teaching, teacher needs to implement several ways and strategies that support students’ effort in finishing the credits and to be master in English as well. Problems in this research are: 1) How is the implementation of UKBM in applying Semester Credit System (SKS) as a 21 st Century Learning at 4th Semester Class at SMAN 2 Blitar in the Academic year of 2018/2019 for Mastering English. Research Method: 1) Research design was Descriptive Qualitative; 2) The research subject was English teacher in 4th semester class; 3) Data collection were from observation, and interview that have been done by the researcher to the teacher and some students in 4th semester class at SMAN 2 Blitar; 4) Data analysis in this research was done by following Miles and Huberman (2014) procedures covering data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing; 5) Data trustworthiness checking of research and analysis by using triangulation data and presentation data. The result of the study showed that the implementation of UKBM in applying SKS as 21 st century learning, teacher conducted arranging the class become groups based on students’ uniqueness and speed of learning. This grouping is one of obligation in SKS. Besides, English teacher employed Independent Learning Activity Unit (UKBM) as guidance for the teacher and students in order to finish students’ credit and Basic Competency in this system. UKBM is very close with 21 st century learning such as 4C, PPK, HOTs, and literacy. 21 st century skills are stated as the objective and learning steps in UKBM. Then, in implementing UKBM the teacher used peer tutorial strategy. Teacher asked students to explain each other with friends to make them more understand about the material. Teacher also give rewards. In the learning process, teacher gave rewards to the students that can answer the question and can finish the material quicker by giving appreciation and chance to take an examination first, quicker from the other friends. Besides that, teacher also used STEM and collaborate it with STEAM in English teaching with UKBM as 21 st century learning. With STEM and STEAM, teacher could increase students’ interest in learning, because with technology teaching learning process would be closer with the students’ world.
