English Education Department, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung. Advisor: Nany Soengkono Madayani, SS, M. Pd. Keywords: English club, SMANESA English club activities, contribution of SMANESA English club, Speaking Improvement. SMANESA English club is one kind of extracurricular program at SMAN 1 Trenggalek for the purpose to facilitate students in improving their speaking skill. The activities of E-club facilitated the improvement of their speaking ability. Practically, the club offered a bunch of advantages toward the students’ speaking enhancement. The formulations of the research problem were: 1) How are the activities carried out by students of SMAN 1 Trenggalek to improve their speaking ability? 2) How are the contributions of the activities carried out by students toward the improvement of their speaking ability at SMAN 1 Trenggalek? The purposes of this study were to: 1) investigate the activities carried out by students of SMAN 1 Trenggalek to improve their speaking ability, 2) elaborate the contributions of the activities carried out by students toward the improvement of their speaking ability at SMAN 1 Trenggalek. Research method: 1) the research design in this study was descriptive design with qualitative approach, 2) the subjects of the study were English teacher and 12 students who join English club at SMAN 1 Trenggalek consist of 6 members of debate division, 3 members of storytelling division, 3 members of newscast and speech division, 3) method of collecting data were observation, interview and documentation, 4) data analysis covered data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, 5) data trustworthiness checking of the research was triangulation by data source and triangulation by method. The result showed that the main activities of SMANESA English club were debate, storytelling, newscast and speech. Furthermore, the activities which was done by the members to practice their speaking skill based on their own division were different enough. The students conducted some mini activities to get successful in the speaking practices. Here, mini activities of debate were beginner boot camp, buzz group discussion, instant comment, unplanned discussion, oral presentation, and having quiz. Then, Storytelling had continuing story, drilling, instant comment, and unplanned discussion. While newscast and speech had oral presentation activity,drilling, unplanned discussion, and instant comment. Furthermore, in regular class, the students had many games and role-play to enhance their speaking ability. The games were ‘werewolf’, ‘two truths one lie’, ‘once upon a time’, descriptive drawing activity’, ‘word guessing games’, ‘charades’, ‘direction game’, ‘where shall we go?’, ‘connect game’, ‘treasure game’ and ‘spelling bee’. While role-play, they play kinds of roles and act based on the script. The students conducted it only when there is an annual event. Meanwhile, the set of activities gave contributions toward the improvement of students’ speaking ability on some aspects. Those were; building their self-confidence, increasing pronunciation ability, mastering grammar structure, increasing speaking fluency, organizing idea fast, building critical thinking, being open-minded, increasing creativity, and increasing their general knowledg
