Keys word: Students, Response, ELT Practice In learning of foreign language, the mastery of English language skills is considered as a priority for language learners. This is used as a measure to determine someone in mastering the language. Increasing students' skills in learning English is very important in reading and writing. It is important for a teacher to set several strategies, methods for teaching English. The teacher must know how to practice teaching English effectively. The existence of material and media that are appropriate then the techniques and teaching activities provided must be in the form of actions in supporting the improvement of students' abilities in learning English in the classroom. Therefore, the authors are interested in conducting research on student responses to practices in ELT at SMAN 1 Kampak Trenggalek. The purpose of this study is to examine the strategies used by English teachers during the teaching and learning process in the classroom and how students respond when they get English lessons with strategies and methods used by English teachers. This research was carried out using qualitative descriptive methods. The source of this research data is English teachers and students of SMAN 1 Kampak. Data obtained from this study were obtained from observations from data descriptions, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. To check the authenticity of the data, researchers used data sources and triangulation methods in this study. In terms of using triangulation data source, the researcher checks the validity of the data by collecting data through several sources. From the observations that have been made in this study, the English teacher uses several strategies to teach the first is the activity of the teacher in making students become familiar with the subject matter being taught, second is the teacher modifying the learning material to make it easier for students to receive learning material, finally the teacher use learning media such as pictures, projectors, and cartoons. Students' responses to English learning in the classroom are also quite good, because it can be seen that 30% of students feel difficult and bored with the material being taught, while 70% of students feel quite happy and feel interested in English material. The researcher also saw from some students who were not ashamed to ask when they felt difficulties with the material explained by their teacher and the material contained in the English textbook. From the results of the analysis that has been done at SMAN 1 Kampak Trenggalek, it can be concluded that the presence of strategies and other learning support used by teachers can make students' interest in learning English increasingly. By applying these activities in the teaching and learning process in the classroom researchers believe the value of students in learning English will increase rapidly.
