The formulation of the research problem were: 1) How is the effectiveness of using 3-2-1 strategy toward students’ reading comprehension in SMPN 3 Kedungwaru? 2) Is there any significant differences with using and without being taught by using 3-2-1 strategy toward students’ reading comprehension in SMPN 3 Kedungwaru? The research method: 1) the researh design used in this researh was quasi experimental design with quantitative approach, 2) the population of this research was the eighth grade students of SMPN 3 Kedungwaru, 3) the samples were 64 students taken from VIII C class as the control class and VIII D class as the experimental class, 4) the research instrument used to collect the data was test, 5)the researcher used t-test formula by using SPSS program 16.0 version to analyze the data. The result of this research indicates: (1) the students’ mean score of pretest in control class was 57.34 and the mean of posttest was 64.69. (2) the students’ mean score of pretest in experimental class was 59.38 and the mean of posttest 80.62. (3) there was different score between control class and experimental class. the result of Sig. (2-tailed) value in Independent sample test is 0,000. Thus means that the probability is less than 0,05 (0,000 < 0,05). This indicates that 3-2-1 strategy is effective to enhance the students’ comprehension in reading. It means that Ha which states that there is significant different score on the students’ achievement in reading narrative text between taught by using and without using 3-2-1 Strategy is accepted.
