Abstract

Keyword: Analysis, Ciara, Lyric There are some reasons which provided the basic for the writer in choosing this topic. By listening to music for Ciara songs and reading the lyrics, we may acquire knowledge about how to appreciate style of language especially Slang. Therefore the writer was interested in analyzing the slang used in Ciara’s songs. Because in the lyrics of Ciara’s song I find many slang in each of lyric especially in the first album. The writer analyze selected in the first album of Ciara because that is popular in 2004th . From here the writer beside to analyze about slang the writer interested to analyze about meaning, message, and theme in lyric of Ciara’s song. So writer decided to give the title of her thesis “an Analysis of Ciara’s selected song’s lyrics. The formulation of the research problem were: 1) what form of slang (word, phrase, abbreviation) are used in lyric of Ciara’s songs? 2) what are the meaning by the lyrics of Ciara’s songs? 3) what are the message carried by the lyric of Ciara’s songs? 4) what are the theme by the lyrics of Ciara;s songs? The purpose of this study were to: 1) to identify the meaning of slang (word, phrase, abbreviation) are used in lyrics of Ciara’s songs, 2) to find out the meaning by the lyrics of Ciara’s songs, 3) to know the message carried by the lyrics of Ciara’s songs, 4) to understand the theme by the lyrics of Ciara’s songs. The research design was descriptive research to describe the slang and also to analyze the meaning, message, and the theme in Ciara’s lyric selected songs. The subject of this study was the lyrics of Ciara’s selected songs in the first album goodies. The method of collecting data was documentation method. The step how to obtained and collecting data to be analyzed by looking for Ciara’s selected song in internet, reading, listening and understanding songs and some reference related to the problems of study. After data have been collected, they are analyzed in the following step: listening to Ciara’s selected song and reading all the lyrics text of the songs taken as data. And then identifying the kinds and the meaning of slang, meaning,message, and the theme in Ciara’s selected songs. The result showed that the slang in Ciara’s lyrics are in the lyric goodies form of word and phrase, the lyrics oh form of word, phrase, abbreviation, and in the lyric 1_2 step form of word, phrase, and abbreviation. Meaning of lyric goodies generally is about woman who always maintain its reputation as a woman on front of the men. Meaning of lyric 1_2 step generally is about going dance together with Ciara. The meaning of lyrics oh generally is about greatness of the song that created the city of Atlanta by Ciara . the message of lyric goodies was being a woman should be able to maintain its reputation in front of the man. Do not be stupid, so easily attracted and tempted seduction man. a woman should be independent mercenary do so are not easily attracted to the lure of money the man who wishes to exchange it for your sex. Limit your sex as women so that women who remain single and sexi. Do not ignore what people say about you stick to your decision and they will respect your decision. Message of lyric 1_2 step was In this song's beat feels as a singer demands party-goes to dance to the music 1, 2 Step. So they can dance quickly or slow according the beat . message of lyric oh for the success of creating a song do not even think about failure. Make the most interesting so that it can be a great song. Finally, the writer suggested the readers, students, and future researchers who are interested in analyzing different point of view because there are still many elements have not analyzed yet.
