Keyword: effectiveness, writing descriptive text, teacher’s indirect corrective feedback Writing is simply regarded as the most complex language skill to study. This stands to reason for it has crucial elements covering content, organization, grammar, vocabulary, and mechanics. Therefore, it is not uncommon that learners often make errors in learning writing. One of the problems is because the teacher teaches the students without using a good approach and treatment, especially in correcting students’ work. Based on todays curriculum 13, in teaching writing descriptive text, the teacher function as a facilitator who makes the students can do their tasks. Then, in order to solve the students’ difficulties in writing there is one of techniques that can be used to correct students’ work. Teacher’s indirect corrective feedback is believed to contribute in improving students’ writing ability especially in descriptive text. Teacher’s indirect corrective feedback is a feedback that is given to the students’ writing to indicate the location of the error by giving a code without providing the correct. So, the students realize their mistakes and fix them themselves. This study was intended to get the empirical evidence of the effectiveness of teacher’s indirect corrective feedback on students’ writing of descriptive text at at the tenth grade of Ma Al Ma’arif Tulungagung. The formulation of the research is “Is there any significant difference on students’ writing descriptive text achievement before and after being taught by using Teacher’s Indirect Corrective Feedback technique to tenth grade students at MA Al-Ma'arif Tulungagung?”. The purpose of this research is to find out that using teacher indirect corrective feedback technique is effective in teaching writing of descriptive text or not. This research was quantitative research. It used pre-experimental design, with one group pre-test and post-test. It is intended to find out any significant difference scores of the students before and after being taught by using teacher indirect corrective feedback technique. The population of this research was all students of tenth grade class at Ma Al Ma’arif Tulungagung consist of 69 students. The sample of this research is class of X IIK students consist of 22 students that were selected by purposing sampling. Meanwhile, the data was analyzed by using Paired Sample T-test with SPSS 16.0 version software. Based on the analysis of the data, it found that there was a significant difference between students’ score in pre-test and post-test. The result of this research showed that the mean of students’score of pre-test was 59.86, while the mean of students’ score of post-test was 72.05. From statistical calcultion showe that the value of significance was 0.000 < 0.05. It mean (Ho) is rejected and (Ha) is accepted. The next result showed that mechanic was the aspect of writing that significantly improved the most. It clearly proved that applying teacher’s indirect corrective feedback was effective to improve students’ descriptive text writing achievment at the tenth grade of Ma Al-Ma’arif Tulungagung.
