English Education Department. Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Susanto, M.Pd. Keywords: Using, Krebs Media, Speaking Skill. Speaking is on of the four skils that must be mastered by every English learner. Students are skillful in the learning of foreign language if they can master speaking skill. In speaking, student need many vocabulary, good pronunciation and correct grammar. To facilitate the students teaching speaking, appropriate media are needed during the teaching learning process. One of appropriate media that can be used in teaching speaking is Krebs Media. In Krebs Media, students can improve their speaking skill by listening to the audio provided in Krebs Media. In the performence from this media student can develop their speaking ability based on the audio they already listen. The purpose of this research is to know whether Krebs Media is effective on speaking ability. The formulation of the research problem was “Is there any significant difference score in speaking of the eighth grade taught by using Krebs Media and those taught by using Conventional Method at Islamic Junior High School of Tulungagung 1 ?”. Research method: 1) the research design of this study was Quasiexperimental with quantitative approach, 2) the population of this study was second grade students of MTsN Tulungagung 1 , 3) the sample was 8.7 class consisted of 39 students and 8.9 class consisted of 39 students, 4) the research instrument was test, 5) the data analysis was using T-test. The finding showed that Krebs Media was effective used to improve students’ speaking ability of the eighth grade at Junior High School Tulungagung 1 . The effectiveness of Krebs Media can be shown in the following points: 1) the mean score of students on pre-test taught by using Krebs Media was 79.23, and the mean score of post-test was 84.49. The gain of the mean score was 5.26. 2) the mean score of students on pretest taught without Krebs Media was 79.49, and the mean score of posttest was 82.44. The gain of the mean score was 2.95. 3) the result of t-test at significance level of 0.05 showed that the significant values (sig-2 tailed) was 0.080 smaller than 0.05 (0.00 < 0.05). The result means that there is significant different score in speaking ability of the students taught ix by using Krebs Media and those taught by using conventional method. Consequently H0 was rejected and and H1 was accepted.
