The Correlation Between Students’ Habit in Watching English Movie and Their Vocabulary Mastery at the Translation Class of English Department Students of IAIN Tulungagung. Thesis. Keywords: habit in atching English movies, vocabulary mastery. In communication, English as international language plays an important role. The goals of communication itself is conveying whatever inside our mind and understanding what others said. Due to the fact, to express more ideas effectively and avoid missunderstanding, people need to master vocabulary. Vocabulary mastery refers to the number of words from certain language that someone knows. To improve their vocabulary mastery, people can do many things. The habit of watching English movies provides some opportunities to learn English, including improving vocabulary mastery. The objective of this research was to correlate whether the students’ habit in watching English movie is associated with their vocabulary mastery. The subject of this research was the translation class of English Department students of IAIN Tulungagung in academic year 2020/2021. This research used a quantitative approach with correlational method. There were 50 students taken as the sample of this research who were determined by using simple random sampling technique. The instruments used were questionnaire of students’ habit in watching English movie and vocabulary test. The collected data were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation of SPSS version 24. The result of data analysis showed that there was a moderate correlation between students’ habit in watching English movie and their vocabulary mastery. It proved by the index value of correlation coefficient was found 0.468. Based on the table of interpretation, the index value of correlation coefficient (0.468) was at level moderate correlation at interval 0.400 – 0.599. In conclusion, it can be stated that there is a positive correlation between students’ habit in watching English movie and their vocabulary mastery at the translation class of English Department students of IAIN Tulungagung in academic year 2020/2021.
